The Oswego Hotel's Accommodation Packages Takes
Diners Back in Time for a Titanic-Inspired Culinary Journey

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, March 28, 2007 – On April 14, 95 years to the day that the mighty Titanic struck the iceberg that led to its demise, the “Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition” will be sailing into Victoria’s Royal BC Museum. The impressive exhibition will feature 281 artifacts recovered from the ships resting place at the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. In addition, the National Geographic IMAX Theatre will be showing “Titanica,” a 40-minute documentary on the great liner. To honour the exhibit, the new Oswego hotel will be launching two unique accommodation packages that take guests on a culinary journey back in time to the very last dinner served on the Titanic. Inspired by Rick Archibald and Dana McCauley’s book “Last Dinner On the Titanic: Menus and Recipes From the Great Liner,” the packages feature a true taste of history and are a great way to experience first hand a bygone age of luxury and leisure.

“The Captain’s Table”
For the ultimate Titanic experience, the Oswego’s “Captain’s Table” Titanic package features one-night of accommodation in the Oswego’s spectacular Penthouse Suite with breathtaking views of the Victoria’s harbour, a 5-course Titanic-inspired dinner prepared in-suite including Filet Mignon Lilly topped with foie Gras and a truffle sauce and Oysters a la Russe with a vodka relish all served on the Penthouse patio, tickets to the Royal BC Museum exhibit and Titanica, deluxe continental breakfast, valet parking, and a souvenir copy of “Last Dinner on the Titanic.” The package is priced at $515 per person based on double occupancy from opening through June 15, and $585 per person from June 16 through October 15.

“Edwardian Indulgence”
For those looking for a Titanic getaway, the Oswego’s “Edwardian Indulgence” is the perfect retreat. The one-night package in a One-bedroom Suite includes a tasty Titanic-inspired welcome amenity paired with a bottle of sparkling wine, deluxe continental breakfast, tickets to the Royal BC Museum exhibit and Titanica, deluxe continental breakfast, valet parking, and a souvenir copy of “Last Dinner on the Titanic.” The package is priced at $180 per person based on double occupancy from opening through June 15 and $260 per person from June 16 through October 15.

Introduced in 1997, Rick Archibald and Dana McCauley’s book “Last Dinner On the Titanic: Menus and Recipes From the Great Liner,” reproduces exactly what it was like to feast on the most famous of all passenger ships. From the splendor of the a la carte restaurant and the exclusive surroundings of the first-class dining saloon, to the solid comforts of dining second class and the wholesome practicality of supping in third, “Last Dinner on the Titanic” offers an on-board tour with fascinating descriptions and anecdotes, archival photographs and memorabilia, and a host of evocative period paintings and illustrations.

Opening in May 2007, the 80-room Oswego Hotel is set in James Bay, two blocks from Victoria’s famed Inner Harbour, downtown and the stately legislative buildings. The hotel offers guests all the amenities and personalized services of an elegant boutique hotel married with the convenience of fully equipped gourmet kitchens. Unique in its style, the hotel blends an eclectic mix of rugged West Coast and contemporary design. Oswego Hotel’s “O” Bistro headed up by Executive Chef Martin Deboard, features a menu inspired from Vancouver Island living fused with authentic local and regional ingredients.
